Amitabh Bachchan Greets Fans Behind Bulletproof Glass Outside Mumbai Home Amid Security Concerns

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan greeted fans gathered outside his Juhu residence, Jalsa, on Sunday, November 1, from behind a protective bulletproof glass screen. The security arrangement comes two weeks after actor Tiger Shroff was targeted in a shooting incident in Juhu and nine days after an email threatening an attack on Bachchan’s residence triggered security concerns.

Bulletproof Glass Installed Around Fan Greeting Platform

Amitabh Bachchan has maintained a decades-long tradition of stepping outside his residence every Sunday evening to greet fans waiting near the bungalow’s entrance. During these weekly appearances, the actor usually stands on a wheeled platform, allowing people gathered outside to catch a glimpse of him.

However, Sunday’s appearance featured an additional layer of security. Protective bulletproof glass was installed on three sides of the platform. Bachchan was also seen wearing a loose jacket, which has previously led fans to speculate that he may be using a bulletproof vest.

Threatening Email Put Mumbai Police on High Alert

On October 23, security agencies and Mumbai Police heightened their alert after an email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde threatened bomb attacks at her office, Amitabh Bachchan’s residence and the venue of singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert, according to an official.

The email, which was also marked to Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, specifically threatened to target Bachchan’s Jalsa bungalow between October 31 and November 27. It also warned of a grenade attack at a school on October 31 and an attack during Diljit Dosanjh’s concert scheduled for November 27 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse area.

Following the threat, security arrangements and surveillance were strengthened at all the locations mentioned in the email. Investigators also launched an investigation to trace the source of the message and identify the person responsible.

However, it remains unclear whether the bulletproof glass arrangement outside Bachchan’s residence was introduced as part of an official security measure or was a personal decision by the actor.

Tiger Shroff Shooting Incident Raised Security Concerns

The latest security arrangements come against the backdrop of the October 18 shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Shroff was returning from a football game when two men opened multiple rounds of fire at his BMW as the vehicle passed people waiting near the compound’s entrance.

One of the attackers reportedly pointed a firearm directly at the actor, but the weapon jammed. Shroff escaped unharmed, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack, citing Shroff’s association with actor Salman Khan. The gang has reportedly been attempting to target Salman Khan in connection with the blackbuck poaching case.

Shooters Conducted Recce of Several Bollywood Stars’ Residences

According to sources, the accused had surveyed the residences of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan under the pretext of sightseeing to avoid attracting suspicion. However, their actual target was Tiger Shroff. Sources said the alleged motive was to create fear within the Bollywood industry.

The shooters identified as Hrithik alias Roshan, 22, from Bihar, and Rehan, 18, and Phool Singh, 18, both from Haryana, were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan.

Two other accused, Radha and Babita, were arrested at New Delhi Railway Station. Meanwhile, Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, were apprehended in Sonipat, Haryana.

So far, a total of 12 arrests have been made in connection with the case.
